Western Region African Communities Employment Assistance
Program
Provide intensive
employment assistance and support to refugees and special
humanitarian
entrants primarily from the Horn of Africa and skilled migrants and
Temporary Protection Visa Holders (TPV) who are not eligible for
Job Network services or who have not had success in gaining
sustainable employment through the Job Network and/or other
mainstream employment programs in the Western Metropolitan Region
of Melbourne.
TARGET
GROUP
The project will
assist refugees and special humanitarian entrants, primarily from
Africa including jobseekers from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan,
Liberia and Burundi. Furthermore an added focus of the
project will be to assist a diverse mix of recent arrivals from the
following countries; Vietnam, Burma, Afghanistan, Albania, Bosnia,
China and the former Yugoslavia. The project will focus on clients
living in Western Metropolitan Region of Melbourne including the
Cities of Maribynong, Brimbank, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham.
PROJECT
LOCATION
The project will
focus on the Western Metropolitan Region of Melbourne and will be
centrally located at the New Hope Foundation office in the City of
Maribynong (Footscray shopping/service precinct). Further to
this outreach services to the target group will be delivered from
office locations based at sites in the Cities of Hobson's Bay,
Brimbank and Wyndham.
