The region is comprised of the following local government areas: Bayside, Frankston, Glen Eira, Kingston, Melbourne, Monash, Mornington Peninsula, Port Phillip, Stonnington and Yarra. Through the Community Planning and Research Unit, various sources of data are drawn together to develop a picture of the communities settling in the region and to identify service gaps and issues.
