Mission
Statement
The New Hope
Migrant and Refugee Centre is committed to providing accountable
settlement, welfare, aged care, employment and training programs to
refugees/migrants through the development and delivery of quality,
innovative, responsive and targeted casework, community development
and advocacy activities. We strive to ensure access to services for
diverse cultural and linguistic communities through extensive
collaboration with regional service providers and engaging human
service organisations in the development of inclusive access and
equity policies.
Service
Principles
- To
provide accountable welfare, settlement, aged care, information and
advocacy services.
- To
work extensively and collaboratively with regional settlement
service providers.
- To
engage human service organisations in policy and service
development initiatives which seek to address equity and access
issues.
- To
monitor settlement patterns in order to co-ordinate and develop new
settlement services and programs for refugees and migrants as
required.
- To
engage in community and group development practices with the aim of
assisting migrant groups and, thus address the needs of
disadvantaged sections of the migrant community i.e., the aged,
disabled and low income persons of diverse cultural and
linguistically diverse communities.
- To
develop and deliver educational, employment and other related
programs that promote the interest and enhance the opportunities of
culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- To
provide resources and facilities to ethnic community groups and
organisations.
- To
pursue broad social policy changes on issues affecting refugee and
migrant communities.
- To
promote the principles of multiculturalism and ensure the rights of
individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
through effective participation and sharing of community
resources
